What VaultKind changes, and what it does not claim
Inherited from Cryptomator
VaultKind is derived from the Cryptomator desktop application under GPLv3. It retains Cryptomator-compatible vault handling and depends on Cryptomator libraries including cryptofs and cryptolib.

Webbi Networks changed the product direction to a Windows-only, English-only desktop application with a native WinUI shell, Learning Center, Vault Doctor diagnostics, Store packaging, and Webbi Networks publisher presentation.
Cryptographic boundary
The public engineering record says security-sensitive code and Java package identifiers are kept close to upstream where practical. The native Windows frontend talks to the Java vault engine through a narrow local interface; release notes do not claim changes to the vault format or cryptographic behavior.
What this does not prove
Public source code and Microsoft Store certification are useful transparency and distribution signals, but they are not an independent security audit. VaultKind has not had an independent third-party security audit.

What’s different from Cryptomator?
VaultKind is derived from Cryptomator under GPLv3 and uses a compatible vault format. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of Skymatic GmbH or the Cryptomator project. Cryptomator remains the established official cross-platform application.

Is VaultKind available to install today?
Yes. VaultKind 1.0.2 is available as a free, publicly discoverable Microsoft Store application for supported Windows 10 and 11 x64 systems.
Does VaultKind create its own vault format?
No. VaultKind works with Cryptomator-compatible vaults so users can keep the encrypted format they already trust.
Does VaultKind upload vaults for diagnostics?
No. Vault Doctor performs read-only checks on your computer. Using VaultKind does not require a VaultKind cloud service.
Who is VaultKind for?
If you've ever wanted encrypted storage to feel like a normal Windows application instead of a technical project, VaultKind is for you.
