Desktop application data

VaultKind processes vault operations locally. The app stores its settings, vault registrations, diagnostic logs, and other operating state on your Windows device. Your encrypted vault files remain in the local, external, network, or cloud-synchronized folder you choose.

VaultKind does not operate an account service and does not intentionally collect or transmit your readable files, vault passwords, recovery keys, configured vault list, or diagnostic logs.

Services you choose

If you place an encrypted vault in a folder synchronized by another provider, that provider receives the encrypted vault files according to its own terms and privacy policy. VaultKind does not control that service. If you follow a link from VaultKind, your browser and the destination website handle that visit under their own policies.

Microsoft Store and Windows may process installation, licensing, update, reliability, or diagnostic information under your Microsoft and Windows settings. That processing is provided by Microsoft, not by VaultKind.

Website

The VaultKind website does not set tracking cookies and does not use advertising or visitor analytics. The contact form uses a short-lived, strictly necessary session cookie plus submission timing and a temporary one-way IP hash to resist automated abuse. As with ordinary web hosting, the hosting infrastructure may maintain technical access or security logs such as an IP address, browser identifier, requested URL, and timestamp.

Support communication

If you use the VaultKind contact form or post in the public GitHub repository, the information you choose to provide is used to understand and respond to your request. Contact-form messages include the name or username, reply email, issue category, VaultKind version, Windows version, and message you enter and are delivered by email. Do not send a vault password, recovery key, unencrypted private document, or other secret. GitHub posts are public unless GitHub indicates otherwise.

Children

VaultKind is general-purpose desktop software and is not directed to children. VaultKind does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the desktop application.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when VaultKind’s features or distribution change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
